Abstract

As a contraceptive for less motivated couple, an IUD is an effective, semi-permanent, and relatively cheap method of contraception. Some minor side-effects, however, are likely to be happened. An extrauterine displacement of IUD is rare, but this is most serious complication if happened.
Two cases of extrauterine displacement of Lippes loop are presented with brief discussion about the incidence, possible mechanism and prevention which would be helpful to minimize and prevent such a serious complication as to require laparotomy in order to remove the device of ectopic placement.
